To run ZONERA we collect:
- Account information you provide when you create an account and use your account.
- Content and activity generated through your use of the platform.
- Transaction and account-related records tied to your in-platform balance and history.
- Technical, device, and security information we automatically collect to operate and protect ZONERA: your IP address; approximate location (country and city) derived from your IP; browser and device type (from your user-agent); and a device or browser fingerprint we use to prevent fraud, ban evasion, and multiple-account abuse.
- First-party product analytics such as page views, clicks on buttons or links, page timing, coarse device type, country-level location, and grouped error signals. We use this to understand launch health, improve confusing flows, and find broken features. We do not collect typed form values, captions, direct messages, cookies, passwords, one-time codes, card details, or precise GPS location through product analytics. We also respect browser Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals for this analytics layer.
When you sign up or sign in, we may run a Cloudflare bot challenge to confirm you are not a bot.
If you use Picks AI Analysis, ZONERA may process the pick prompt, current platform context, your purchase context, and the returned analysis so the feature can work, be audited, and be refunded if needed. Do not use AI features for confidential, sensitive, or high-stakes decisions.
ZONERA Tools may analyze text you provide to power the specific tool you choose. Tools disclose whether processing happens locally or through ZONERA before activation. Do not paste sensitive personal data, secrets, confidential documents, or third-party material you are not allowed to process.
If you install and enable ZONERA Companion, it may share only the Companion features you turn on, such as activity status, local notifications, availability sharing, reminders, and ZONERA Clipz submissions. Calendar, Reminders, game status, and Clipz are separate choices. Companion is designed not to send unrelated device activity, personal files, private messages, calendar details, reminder text, meeting details, or unsupported media. Companion does not download games, run mods, or execute user files.
Activity status: if you allow it, ZONERA may show simple status such as online, away, playing, or last seen to people who can view your profile. Status does not include what you are typing, reading, viewing, or storing on your device. You can hide status anywhere it would render in Settings, Privacy, Show activity status.
We collect only what is reasonably needed to operate, secure, improve, and enforce ZONERA.
We use your data to: operate the platform, authenticate your account, enforce our rules, detect fraud and abuse, maintain security, and improve the service. We may use aggregated or anonymized data for any purpose without restriction.
We use automated systems and human review to help enforce our Community Guidelines and maintain platform safety. We may review content and take action where necessary, including in response to user reports.
We do not sell your data. ZONERA does not currently run third-party ad pixels or third-party analytics. ZONERA may use its own first-party operational analytics to understand product health and improve the service.
We share data only with the following service providers, and only with what they need to do their job:
- Cloudflare: content delivery, security, and storage for ZONERA Clipz gameplay clips. See our Terms for clip retention details.
- Cloud database & hosting providers: store your account and content, and run the platform.
- Payment processors: Stripe processes web ZBUCKS purchases, and Apple processes iOS in-app purchases where available. These providers handle payment details. ZONERA never sees, stores, or transmits your payment card information.
- Email delivery provider: verification codes, security alerts, and receipts.
- YouTube and Spotify: only when you choose to use Watch Together or connect Spotify. See "Third-Party Embeds" below.
- Law enforcement: only when legally compelled (subpoena, court order, or applicable law).
Anonymous posts are stored with your real user ID. Your identity is stripped from all public-facing responses, but administrators can access it for safety, moderation, or legal compliance. Anonymity is best-effort, not guaranteed.
We use cookies and local storage for functional purposes only: login state, theme preferences, session management, and referral attribution. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.
When you choose to use Watch Together or connect Spotify, those services set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. See "Third-Party Embeds" below.
ZONERA Companion is optional. Sharing starts off. Game status, Calendar, Reminders, notifications, and Clipz each have their own controls. You can quit Companion or turn any option off at any time.
Activity status. ZONERA may show online, away, playing, or last-seen status on profiles, DMs, and Gamers Zone surfaces. You can hide the entire status under Settings, Privacy, Show activity status.
Game status and Clipz. When you turn game status on, Companion can show a detected Steam or known game name in ZONERA. Clipz capture starts only when you choose to record.
Calendar and Reminders sync. Both are off by default. If enabled, they share availability and count summaries only. Event titles, reminder text, attendees, locations, notes, and attachments stay on your laptop.
Companion stores local settings and a revocable ZONERA account link on your device. That account link is not your password and is not your web session token. Companion does not install games, run mods, execute user files, or collect unrelated app content.
Local desktop notifications are generated by your operating system. They may appear on your lock screen, shared display, or notification history depending on your device settings. ZONERA cannot control how your operating system displays them.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transport, account-protection controls, access controls, and monitoring. However, no system is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is available in Settings. When enabled, you must enter a 6-digit code emailed to you on every sign-in. We also require email-OTP confirmation for the following sensitive actions, with or without 2FA enabled: password reset, disabling 2FA, changing your email, deleting your account. Treat your email account as part of your ZONERA security.
Sign-in alerts. When you sign in from a new device, IP, or country we have not seen on your account before, we send a security email with the time, device, IP, and approximate location. If it was not you, you can reset your password and contact support.
When you load a Watch Party, your browser connects directly to YouTube and is subject to YouTube's privacy policy. YouTube may set its own cookies and collect data about your viewing activity. ZONERA does not receive Watch Party viewing data beyond what is needed to display playback state.
When you connect Spotify, you authenticate through Spotify directly. Spotify may set its own cookies and your listening data is governed by Spotify's privacy policy. ZONERA does not receive your Spotify listening history beyond the currently-playing track that you choose to share.
You can revoke connected integrations from the provider where available at any time.
ZONERA sends two kinds of email:
- Account-required emails: verification codes, password resets, security alerts, payment receipts, suspension and deletion notices. These cannot be unsubscribed because they are required to operate your account.
- Engagement and marketing emails: reply notifications, new follower alerts, mention alerts, trending-post alerts, streak milestones, launch updates. Every one has a one-tap unsubscribe link, and your email app's built-in unsubscribe works too.
You can change which engagement emails you receive at any time from Settings, Email preferences.
Account deletion is available in Settings. The flow requires your password and (if 2FA is enabled) a 6-digit code sent to your email. Once initiated, your account is deactivated immediately and queued for permanent deletion after a 30-day grace period. Sign in or submit a support ticket within that window to cancel.
On permanent deletion: your profile information is removed; your authentication is rotated to invalidate every existing session; your handle is anonymized to @deleted in posts, comments, and DMs you sent; ZORA balances are forfeited; escrowed amounts in active games and ZONERA Picks are released to counterparties; ZBUCKS purchases are not refundable except where required by law. Some records may persist where required for safety, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
ZONERA and ZONERA Companion are for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly accept registrations from anyone under 13, and do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13 (COPPA). Date of birth is collected at registration to enforce the 13+ minimum. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact legal@zonera.fun.
We also use date of birth and broad inferred country or region from IP and Cloudflare country signals to apply age and region safety settings, feature availability, abuse prevention, and legal compliance. We do not ask for country at signup unless needed for a specific flow. Where required, minors may receive stricter defaults such as friend-limited activity status, limited direct-message availability, and no profiling-based personalized partner ads.
Where local rules require a higher age for social media features, we may use those same age and broad region signals to limit account-backed social features until eligibility is confirmed. This includes regions such as the United Arab Emirates, where under-15 users may be restricted from account-backed social features and 15-16 users may receive protected defaults.
ZONERA's servers and data are located in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your data is transferred to the United States under appropriate safeguards. Where required, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK and Swiss equivalents) with the service providers listed in Section 03 to protect your information when it leaves your region. Your continued use of the platform also serves as supplementary consent to this transfer where consent is a valid basis.
Active accounts: data is retained while your account is active.
Deleted accounts: profile information is removed within 30 days. Public content is preserved but de-identified. Conversation history may remain visible to other participants. Moderation, safety, and integrity records are retained as long as needed for platform safety.
Banned or restricted accounts: identifiers necessary to prevent re-entry may be retained indefinitely.
Account and balance records: retained as long as needed to operate the in-platform economy and resolve disputes.
Payment records: retained as long as required by tax, accounting, dispute, and compliance obligations. We do not store card details. Stripe handles those.
Connected accounts and chess ratings: retained until you unlink the account, turn off public rank display, delete your account, or we remove the integration.
Companion status: retained only as long as needed to show fresh status and operate the feature, except ordinary operational logs kept for security and reliability.
Operational logs: retained for a limited period to support security and reliability, then routinely purged.
Access: you can view your account information through the platform at any time.
Export: you can request a portable copy of your account data in Settings, including profile data, content you created, account activity, inventory, transactions, settings, game records, ZONERA Picks records, connected-account records, and Companion records where ZONERA stores them. Exports exclude other users' personal data, temporary Companion status that is not stored, and safety review material. The export requires re-authentication and may trigger a security email.
Deletion: you can delete your account in Settings. See Data Deletion (§10) above for the full flow.
Correction: you can update your profile information at any time in Settings.
Portability: the export above gives you a portable copy of your account data that you can keep or move elsewhere.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to object to certain processing, to ask us to restrict how we process your data while a concern is being resolved, to withdraw consent where we rely on it, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first at legal@zonera.fun.
To exercise any of these rights or if you have questions, contact legal@zonera.fun.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following lawful bases to process your personal data:
- Performance of a contract: running your account and the in-platform economy, including balances, transactions, and the features you use.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the platform secure, preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing our rules, and moderating content. You can object to this processing as described in Section 14.
- Consent: optional features you turn on, such as Companion Calendar and Reminders sync, availability sharing, and ZONERA Clipz submissions. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning the feature off.
- Legal obligation: keeping payment, tax, and other records we are required by law to retain.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, gives you specific rights. The categories of personal information we collect are:
- Identifiers: your handle, email address, IP address, and device or browser fingerprint, used to operate and secure your account.
- Account and commercial records: your ZBUCKS and ZORA transactions and balance history, used to operate the in-platform economy.
- Internet and network activity: your usage of the platform and the content you create, used to provide and improve the service.
- Geolocation: approximate location (country and city) derived from your IP, used to secure your account and send sign-in alerts.
- Inferences: moderation and safety signals, used to enforce our rules and keep the platform safe.
You have the right to know and access the personal information we hold about you, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and the use of sensitive personal information for purposes that require a limit-the-use option. You can exercise the access, deletion, and correction rights directly in Settings (export, delete, and edit are live), or contact legal@zonera.fun.
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require a limit-the-use option. We also do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
How long we keep each category is described in Data Retention (§13).
We may update this policy at any time by posting the revised version. Continued use of ZONERA after changes constitutes acceptance.
